Introduction to Water Recovery for K9s

Have you ever considered doing water recovery with your K9 partner?  Do you have a K9 that has started on water recovery, but you would like more repetitions working from a boat and using large HRD sources?  This is the seminar for you!

This workshop presents an introduction to water recovery for K9s with an emphasis on shaping an indication from a boat using divers.  Basic search strategies for water search will be emphasized.  It is also a valuable workshop for intermediate K9s who need more foundational repetitions working from a boat and using large HRD sources.

Topics Covered:

  • Water safety for K9 SAR scenarios
  • Introduction to shaping an indication from a boat.
  • Reinforcing comittment to HRD odor in a water context using large HRD sources. 
  • Teaching your K9 partner to ‘drive the boat’
  • Search strategies for various types of water environments (lakes, rivers, etc..) 
  • Strategies for shoreline searches.

Cost:   $275 per handler with dog; $150 per handler without dog.

Lunch will be included Friday and Saturday on site.
