We say ‘dogs,’ but Harrisburg K-9 officers call them ‘partners’

In an abandoned building on the old state hospital grounds in Harrisburg, office furniture and trash lay scattered in darkened empty rooms and long, dark hallways.

The silence is broken by the occasional yelp and bark of two young dogs and the brief, terse commands of their handlers. The dogs sniff through closed doors looking for “suspects” and pace back and forth seeking sounds, scents and cues from their partners.
